Artist Statement
I’ve realized that art making has become almost like a form of therapy for myself. My artwork reflects on an experience or a narrative taken directly from my life and allows me to fully process, appreciate, and document those moments.
As an art educator, I have the opportunity to get know many different personalities along with their stories. It’s truly satisfying finding ways that enable learners to personalize their art experiences in order to express themselves in a way that fits their individual needs. Art in general has the power to better understand ourselves along with the world we live.
Art education can benefit individuals with creative thinking skills, problem-solving, communication, and encourages the imagination; all now recognized as essential assets for the future job market. It’s important that people know that art is for everyone and I take pride in knowing my job is to help others realize that.
